IF WE DO NOT SAVE OURSELVES, WHO WOULD SAVE US THEN
[Poverty and illusion] [Resource Illusion] [Paying the Price] [Sustainable systems]
[Fair Trade Illusion] [Permaculture] [Material Prison] [Gratuitous Needs]
[Freedom from Illusion] [U.N. Responsibility] [Eco-friendly Education in India]

A picture emerges that for all the institutional buzzwords of "Fair Trade" "Free Trade" "UNCTAD" "free market access" etc to alleviate poverty involves the poor in trade. It becomes obvious that "trade in itself is not fair" because trade is the major component of a capitalist system trapping poor people in a world trade system forcing them to be reliant on exports of basic commodities, so why should poor people trade.

The MST (Movimento Sem-Terra) which fights for agrarian reform with Brazil's movement of landless workers, which invades unproductive lands to make the government slice them up, and give them back to the people is the worlds largest people movement and is the first step to challenge poverty.

However, we witness land gained with blood sweat and tears only to be misused with unsustainable cash crops as a reciprocal condition or choice by its recipients. Afghanistan, the biggest world exporter of illegal opium drugs with vast fields of poppies, when interviewed farmers growing such crops replied, "my family is starving what can I do???"
